The Buena Vista Regional Healthcare Foundation recently purchased eight new chemotherapy chairs for patients at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center’s Oncology & Infusion Center.
The new chairs, purchased through the support of generous Foundation donors, enhance comfort for patients and are more user-friendly for both the patient and the nursing staff.
The ability to raise and lower the chair makes it safer for nurses and easier on their backs, limiting the need to bend over when assisting patients. The chairs also offer a variety of reclining options, allowing patients to adjust according to their needs and comfort level.
“We are excited to continue to provide an even greater patient-centered experience at BVRMC’s Oncology & Infusion Center,” says Deb Colshan, BVRMC Director of Oncology. “Patients coming for chemotherapy or infusion sessions often are sitting in those chairs for multiple hours. While they are going through one of the most difficult times of their lives, it is a joy for us to be able to provide any additional comfort that we can.”
“We cannot extend our gratitude enough to our generous donors who continually support the Foundation and the efforts of our hospital,” says Katie Schwint, Executive Director of Community Development. “Our donors are helping to provide BVRMC’s staff with more advanced equipment and direct comfort to patients with projects such as the chemotherapy chairs.”
An open house will be held on Wednesday, October 16 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at BVRMC’s Oncology & Infusion Center and Diagnostic Imaging departments.
Community members will be able to learn about both departments, see the new chemotherapy chairs, and see the new 3D mammography system that aims to make mammograms more comfortable for patients.
