Biography

Spencer Bezoni has lived in Aurelia since he was born in early 1996. He was raised in a family that had a passion for the outdoors and is always trying to find the best views Iowa has to offer. He goes to different county parks in the area and looks for all sorts of different wildlife.

He graduated from Alta-Aurelia High School in 2014 and attended college at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs where he graduated with a degree in Fire Science. While in college, he spent most of his days near the Missouri River specifically around DeSoto Bend National Wildlife Refuge in Missouri Valley. While at school, he completed an environmental science class with a Professor Ron Cisar, who Bezoni calls “an inspiration to find the beauty in nature photography.” He looks up to nature photographer Tom Mangelsen. This is where Bezoni started thinking of the idea to start taking wildlife/landscape photography. It wasn’t until COVID-19 in early 2020 where he purchased his first camera and his passion for capturing Iowa’s beauty was ignited.

Spencer lives in Aurelia with his wife, Laurel, a speech pathologist with the AEA, and their 3-year-old daughter Marley. He works full-time as a 911 dispatcher for The Iowa Department of Public Safety- Division of the Iowa State Patrol and was promoted to lead dispatcher in August 2020.

You can find Bezoni’s work on his Facebook page, “Spencer Bezoni Photography.” He often submits pieces to county fairs and has been featured in the “Our Iowa” magazine and local newspapers. He appreciates everyone sharing his work and hopes it brings joy to many seeing what this beautiful state has to offer.
