Buena Vista Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the newest addition to our health care team, Dr. Ken Chapman. Dr. Chapman is now seeing patients at UnityPoint Clinic Family Medicine Buena Vista, located at the BVRMC campus.
He brings a unique background to our community, having transitioned from a successful career in accounting to follow his passion for health care. With a wealth of experience in financial management and a newfound dedication to patient care, Dr. Chapman embodies the spirit of lifelong learning and service. As a family medicine provider Dr. Chapman will see patients for all their general needs, including obstetrics.
While Dr. Chapman lived in many places around the United States and various countries, he calls Maquoketa, Iowa, home. He earned his Pre-Medical Post Baccalaureate certificate from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, and his Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He completed his family medicine residency at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. His unique background equips him with a distinctive perspective on patient care.
“Dr. Chapman’s choice to come to BVRMC is a testament to the collaborative and supportive environment we cultivate here,” states Rob Colerick, BVRMC CEO. “His dedication to meeting patients where they are aligns perfectly with our mission to provide the best care.”
Dr. Chapman embraces a philosophy of minimizing harm by meeting people where they are in their health care journey. This approach reflects a deep understanding of the unique needs and circumstances of each individual.
“I believe in meeting patients where they are at to minimize the impact of health challenges,” shared Dr. Chapman. “This approach allows for tailored care that addresses the specific needs and options of each person.”
He credits the inspiring work of our dedicated team of local providers for influencing his decision to join BVRMC. He was drawn to the opportunity to serve in a rural community,
recognizing the importance of delivering health care services where they are needed most.
“When visiting Storm Lake and meeting the providers, I knew this is where I wanted practice,” shared Dr. Chapman. “I instantly felt comfortable around them and knew I could trust them. I thought to myself that these are the kind of people I want to work with.”
In addition to his patient-centered philosophy, Dr. Chapman is excited about the flexibility and resources offered by our rural hospital. He sees this as an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our community members.
In his free time, Dr. Chapman enjoys fishing, hunting, canning and gardening.
Patients can now schedule appointments with Dr. Chapman by calling UnityPoint Clinic Family Medicine Buena Vista at 712.213.5030.
