Bags Donated to BVRMC for Oncology Patients
December 17 is a special day for Carrie Schmidt, it’s her dad’s birthday. Carrie’s dad, Ed Demers, died at the age of 42 from leukemia. Years after his passing she became a Thirty-One bag consultant and found a way to pay tribute to Ed’s memory every year and help patients fighting cancer at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.
Throughout the year she and her clients purchase bags that include a blanket, lotions, crossword puzzles, and things to do while doing chemotherapy treatment.
“I had a friend fighting breast cancer and she received one of my bags, her favorite item was the blanket,” says Carrie.
BVRMC patients appreciate the items and people that donate bags to help comfort them during treatment.
“It’s just my way of honoring my dad and helping others,” says Carrie.
