BVRMC Prepares for Final Stage of Emergency Department Construction

BVRMC | February 19th, 2017

STORM LAKE – Buena Vista Regional Medical Center’s new addition, including the new Emergency Department is now open. Anyone needing emergency services will use the west entrance of the current parking lot and follow the red “EMERGENCY” signs for the new entrance.

Now that the new addition is open, construction will focus on what was the former Emergency, Lab, Emergency Entrance, Lobby and some Medical Surgical patient rooms. Approximately 44,000 square feet of structure.

Over the next few weeks the non-clinical staff currently housed in the older west side of the hospital will be moved into former patient rooms that were used for First Embrace Obstetrics and Medical Surgical patients.

As employees are moved to alternative spaces, construction workers will begin the process to prepare this area for demolition. Demolition is expected to be complete by the end of September.

After demolition of the old entrance and departments in that area a new parking lot will be built and the new Emergency Department front entrance will be visible from West 5th Street.
